Description

The Avalon House was originally anchored on 6th Street in Avalon, New Jersey. George W. Kates built this home as his “summer cottage” in 1895. In 1955, the home was purchased by Robert Louis Dean to be enjoyed as the family vacation home for the next 50 years. In 2017, the current owner and oldest grandchild of Robert Lewis Dean, learned that the home was going to be demolished for new construction. To preserve history, the home was taken apart in pieces and placed in storage while land was sought and acquired in Cape May. The home was slowly transported, in several pieces, on the back of trailers. After almost 2 years of restoration in the new location, The Avalon House is pieced back together for others to enjoy! Old meets new in this completely renovated, luxury home. The original home has been expanded into a 6 BR/4.5 BA, of approximately 4,000 square feet of living space. As you enter from the front porch, you will encounter the “original” part of the house. The wood floors, stained glass and staircase have been restored to perfection. Level one consists of a primary suite, three additional bedrooms, two full bathrooms, sitting area, laundry room and sliding doors that lead to the back deck. Level two consists of an additional Jr. suite, powder room, parlor, gourmet kitchen, family room, gas fireplace and living room that leads to another spacious deck. There is an additional suite and private deck on the third level. Additionally, this home is being offered with a heated (extra fee), saltwater swimming pool, which completes this home as a perfect getaway. Six beach chairs and umbrella provided. Additional $450 cleaning fee for all rentals. Step back in time to see this Victorian farmhouse - rich in history - updated with modern amenities! Pool is open from MMW until the weather holds in September. Blankets and pillows are provided. Tenants are responsible for sheets and towels.
