Discover how Jersey Cape Life Empowerment Hub creates opportunities for youth and individuals with disabilities across Cape May County. Learn about their inspiring programs, success stories, and how local businesses can get involved!

In this episode of the Coastal Currents podcast, we sat down with Emma from Jersey Cape Life Empowerment Hub to uncover the incredible work they're doing right here in Cape May County. From job training and youth support to creating millions of beach tags for New Jersey, this organization is truly making a difference.

A Mission Rooted in Opportunity

Founded in 1973, Jersey Cape Life Empowerment Hub started as a training center for individuals with disabilities, providing them with valuable workforce skills and life-changing opportunities. Emma explains how their flagship program, producing over 3 million beach tags annually, teaches participants everything from order fulfillment to packaging—all while fostering independence and social connections.

They even create custom beach tags for weddings, events, and special occasions, adding a personal touch to every milestone.

Building Brighter Futures for Youth

Emma shared the hub's passionate commitment to Cape May County's youth. Through their in-school and out-of-school programs, they provide counseling, tutoring, GED preparation, and even paid internships. Remarkably, students get paid to learn and pursue their educational goals, removing financial barriers and keeping them engaged.

One standout story involved a student who, after dropping out of high school, completed the program in just four months, earned her GED, and is now thriving in college!

Connecting Youth with Local Employers

A key highlight is their internship program, where Jersey Cape covers the cost of youth employment, removing hesitation for local businesses. Employers gain motivated young team members at no cost while helping students build essential skills and explore their passions. Whether it’s fashion design, hospitality, or even space exploration, the hub tailors each experience to match the youth's dreams.

Expanding Opportunities Through Innovation

In addition to employment and education services, Jersey Cape runs a day program full of enriching activities like crafts, boat rides, and bowling. They also produce promotional products and offer janitorial services, providing even more avenues for training and growth.

And coming soon: What The Hub — a brand-new podcast by Jersey Cape, giving local teens a platform to share their perspectives and connect with business owners and community leaders.

How You Can Get Involved

Jersey Cape Life Empowerment Hub is always looking to partner with local businesses, volunteers, and community members. Whether you want to sponsor an internship, offer job placements, or explore volunteer opportunities, they welcome your support.
